About Chef Michael Rusconi

Chef Michael Rusconi’s culinary talents have taken him around the country. Though born in California, he was raised in Chicago and earned his culinary degree from the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont. Prior to establishing Rusconi’s American Kitchen in 2012, he earned his stellar reputation in Arizona for his efforts in revitalizing the culinary program at LON’s at the Hermosa Inn. Long before it was the norm, Chef Rusconi became a pioneer of the sustainable food movement. He is an avid supporter of multiple local and national charity events, has earned several Mobil 4 Star Awards, consecutive nominations from the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame and was named the Food Awards’ Food Pioneer in 2022.

Chef Michael enjoys the endless creativity that comes with being in the kitchen — and in the restaurant environment as a whole. Beyond curating an exquisite menu that loyal regulars come back for time and again, Chef Michael takes pride having developed the restaurant to include a stunning skylight as well as a vibrant community art installation program that serves as a core attraction of the restaurant. A modern-day renaissance man, Chef Michael was acutely involved in every aspect of opening his restaurant. And now, more than 10 years later, his is just as attentive to the fine details, ensuring that every guest has an unforgettable dining experience. When it comes down to it, Chef Michael’s food philosophy explains it best: “Buy the best ingredients, treat them with love and respect and then apply proper technique. Only by doing that will you be able to deliver the best quality possible.”
